EBU names Annsofi Eriksson as chief technology officer

March 26, 2026 11.37 Europe/London By Julian Clover

The European Broadcasting Union has appointed Annsofi Eriksson as its new chief technology officer, with the Sveriges Radio executive due to take up the role on 1 October.

Eriksson is currently CIO and director of technology for the Swedish public broadcaster and sits on the executive management team. She brings more than 20 years of experience in IT leadership, digital transformation and technology strategy across both the public and private sectors.

At the EBU, she will lead a newly created department bringing together the organisation’s work across technology, artificial intelligence and digital platforms. The move is intended to unify expertise currently spread across several teams and strengthen collaboration with members and industry partners.

EBU director general Noel Curran said Eriksson’s mix of strategic and operational experience would be important as the organisation expands its work in AI, platforms and partnerships.

During her time at Sveriges Radio, Eriksson has overseen the broadcaster’s full IT and technology environment, including strategy, development, operations, cybersecurity and supplier management. Her previous positions include CIO at Sergel Group and head of IT at Länsförsäkringar Fondliv, as well as senior roles at Telia Company, Tieto, Aditro and Alfa Laval.

She also has existing links to the EBU, serving as vice chair of the EBU Technical Committee and as a board member of the Security4Media Association.

Eriksson said she was joining the EBU at an important time for public service media, with technology and AI reshaping the sector and creating new opportunities for collaboration.

She will succeed Antonio Arcidiacono, who is leaving the EBU after more than 7 years leading its Technology & Innovation team. Arcidiacono will remain in post until Eriksson starts in October to support the transition.
