Redge Technologies has deployed a customised digital broadcasting platform for Israeli public broadcaster KAN 11, in a project delivered with local partner AVCOM.
The platform is now live as a core part of KAN 11’s digital operation and has been designed around the broadcaster’s news-led, mobile-first strategy.
KAN 11, the main television channel of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, uses the service to distribute news, current affairs and live programming across television, radio and digital outlets. The new platform brings together articles, live streams, video, radio and podcasts within a single user experience.
Rami David, VP Global Bizdev and Sales at Redge Technologies, said the strength of the deployment came from combining the company’s service delivery platform and video delivery platform under a single supplier model. “This unified architectural approach ensures deeper technical alignment and superior performance, allowing KAN 11 to move with the speed and agility required of a modern news organisation without being held back by fragmented infrastructure.”
KAN’s objective to support its public service remit by making news, live broadcasts and cultural content available quickly and consistently across devices.
KAN CTO Shay Levi said the broadcaster had opted for a single main technology provider in order to simplify operations across its digital estate and improve responsiveness during breaking news and peak traffic periods. “A key element of the platform is the integration of a local CDN, which is critical for delivering the high availability, low latency, and performance required by a nationwide public broadcaster, while also addressing local infrastructure, security, and data sovereignty requirements.”
The platform supports both video and radio services, including live streaming and podcasts, within a unified environment. KAN said this is backed by a dual-site distribution architecture and dedicated monitoring systems to improve resilience and operational control.
Redge said the deployment was built as a fully custom solution tailored to KAN 11’s editorial structure rather than as a standard product rollout. Particular emphasis was placed on mobile consumption, vertical video and real-time news presentation, including breaking news modules and dynamic content feeds.
AVCOM worked with Redge on the video delivery platform and was responsible for local installations in Israel, along with network-related elements of the deployment. The company also supported the RFP process.
Erez Paz, CEO of AVCOM, described the KAN 11 project as a milestone for the company, marking its move from on-premises systems towards cloud-managed services. He said AVCOM would continue to provide local support for the video delivery platform under SLA commitments.
The platform is available across web, mobile and Smart TV devices, as well as dedicated children’s apps under the KAN Kids brand. Redge said the mobile applications in particular represented a significant step forward in editorial flexibility and responsiveness compared with more conventional TV app environments.
