Prime Video secures Leonine Studios film slate in multi-year deal

March 18, 2026 10.27 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Amazon Prime Video has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Leonine Studios, securing exclusive and non-exclusive streaming rights to a broad package of films in Germany and Austria.

Under the deal, Prime Video will receive exclusive SVOD rights for six months in the pay-2 window for all Leonine theatrical releases starting 1 January 2026, alongside a package of premium home entertainment titles. The agreement also includes non-exclusive SVOD rights to a wide selection of library content.

The output deal covers Leonine’s upcoming cinema slate as well as catalogue titles, expanding Prime Video’s film offering across international blockbusters and German productions. The first title under the agreement is The Housemaid, described as the first major US box office hit of 2026, which has already surpassed 2 million admissions in Germany and Austria.

Further titles in the slate include The Drama, an A24 production starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, as well as The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping. German productions covered by the deal include Ein fast perfekter Antrag and the thriller The Method (Corpus Delicti), based on the novel by Juli Zeh.

The agreement also grants Prime Video access to selected library titles and franchises, including Asterix and Obelix, The Expendables, John Wick and School of Magical Animals.

“We are very pleased to continue our long-standing, successful collaboration with such a great partner as Prime Video in the coming years. The agreement underscores the outstanding quality of our programming and the confidence Prime Video continues to place in us as a top-tier content provider,” said Fred Kogel, CEO of Leonine Studios.

Andreas Hartmann, Head of Licensing and Co-Production at Prime Video Germany, added: “With this multi-year agreement, we’re bringing high-quality feature films and premium content exclusively to our customers in Germany and Austria, from international blockbusters to successful German productions. This underscores our commitment to establishing Prime Video as the leading streaming service for premium entertainment.”

Munich-based Leonine Studios, part of Mediawan Group, operates across production, distribution and licensing, covering the full content value chain from cinema releases to streaming and television.
