SPI International has struck a new partnership with Markíza Group’s sales house for the sale of advertising on FilmBox in Slovakia.
Under the agreement, effective today, Markíza Group becomes the exclusive representative for advertising on the channel in the Slovak market.
Markíza Group is part of CME, one of the largest broadcasters and content producers in Central and Eastern Europe.
FilmBox is one of SPI International’s core brands and has been present in the Czech and Slovak markets for 20 years, offering a mix of Hollywood movies, classic titles and television series.
Erwan Luherne, Managing Director of SPI International, said the agreement forms part of the company’s wider strategy to expand its advertising business in the region and follows the recent launch of advertising on DIZI in Bulgaria.
He said the partnership with Markíza Group would strengthen FilmBox’s position and commercial potential in Slovakia.
Slovakia is now one of five Central and Eastern European markets where SPI International sells TV advertising, alongside Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria.
SPI International said FilmBox had previously carried Czech-language advertising spots in Slovakia, but it is now introducing Slovak-localised advertising breaks to better serve the market.
Juraj Máťuš, Sales Director at Markíza Group, said adding FilmBox to the company’s advertising portfolio would broaden the range of inventory available to advertisers and reinforce its position in the Slovak TV sales market.
In March, FilmBox’s line-up in the Czech Republic and Slovakia includes the crime drama Murders in the Vineyards, along with themed film evenings including a tribute to actor Jiří Bartošek. Friday premieres will include Around the World in 80 Days and The Secret of Karma.
FilmBox is distributed in Slovakia by operators including Skylink, Slovak Telekom, Digi and Orange.
