SES has confirmed that a missile struck its Emek Ha’ela teleport in Israel on 9 March, damaging a small portion of the geostationary antenna field but leaving the main facility operational.
The Luxembourg-based satellite operator said there were no injuries, and that power, internet connectivity and all services not dependent on the impacted antennas continued to run normally.
The operator said it had activated its business continuity plan and was working with customers on restoration, with recovery activities already under way. SES has not disclosed any customer impact beyond the damaged antennas, but said restoration paths were already in place.
SES’s Emek Ha’ela site is one of the company’s teleport assets in Israel and is part of its wider global ground infrastructure.
The strike comes amid a broader escalation in hostilities involving Israel and Hezbollah. Reuters has reported intensifying cross-border attacks this week, while Israeli media said Hezbollah claimed to have targeted the satellite communications site near Beit Shemesh.
