Vodafone Portugal expands Smart Replay with tennis and basketball features

March 6, 2026 10.51 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Vodafone Portugal has launched an updated version of its Smart Replay service on Vodafone TV, adding new features and extending the offer with dedicated tennis and basketball apps.

Available free to all Vodafone TV customers, the service can be accessed through the Apps menu on all TV Box models and via the red button on the remote control.

Smart Replay uses artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision to analyse television broadcasts, identify key moments and generate tagged video clips that can be accessed without manually searching through live channels or recordings.

Vodafone has also upgraded its existing Smart Replay Football and Smart Replay News apps with new fast forward and fast rewind functions designed to make navigation quicker.

The operator is now adding Smart Replay Tennis and Smart Replay Basket to the portfolio.

Smart Replay Tennis includes coverage of televised matches from the four Grand Slams, ATP 1000 and WTA 1000 tournaments, the ATP and WTA Finals and the Estoril Open. Vodafone said the app offers automatic highlights packages centred on key moments including break points, set points and match points, while also allowing navigation between games and sets. Matches are organised by round, with results included for easier browsing.

Smart Replay Basket brings together NBA and Portuguese Basketball League games shown on Vodafone TV across the season. The app includes themed viewing modes focused on three-pointers, buzzer beaters, basket-and-foul plays, momentum swings and the final 2 minutes of games. Automatic summaries are also available.

According to Vodafone, all new Smart Replay features can be used on live content as well as automatic recordings from the previous 7 days.

The operator said the enhancements are intended to simplify content discovery and make it easier for viewers to revisit the moments that matter most across sport and news programming.
