Music Box expands into Africa with AzamTV

March 5, 2026 21.37 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Music Box Television has signed a distribution agreement with AzamTV, one of the leading pay-TV operators in East Africa, marking the company’s expansion into the African market.

Under the agreement, two channels, Music Box Hits and Music Box Dance, are now distributed across nine countries in East and Southern Africa: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The channels are available via AzamTV’s multiple platforms, including IPTV, OTT and DTH satellite through Eutelsat 7C at 7° East.

With this launch, AzamTV subscribers become the first viewers in Africa to access Music Box’s curated music television offering in Full HD.

Music Box Hits focuses on current chart-toppers, global premieres and mainstream international repertoire, while Music Box Dance targets electronic music audiences with a mix of house, techno, trance and festival anthems. Both channels are based on editor-curated playlists and a seamless programming structure designed to deliver a continuous viewing experience.

The move represents a further step in Music Box Group’s international expansion strategy, extending its footprint beyond Europe into a fast-growing and increasingly competitive pay-TV market.

“We are absolutely excited to enter Africa and very grateful to AzamTV for their interest and initiative. This launch confirms that we have created a product with strong global potential that resonates far beyond Europe,” said Serge Kobel, CEO of Music Box Television and Managing Director of Music Box Group.

“Music plays a powerful role in connecting communities across Africa. With the introduction of Music Box Hits and Music Box Dance, we are further strengthening our platform’s by adding two major music channels into our network,” added Jacob Joseph, CEO, Business Development and Technology at AzamTV. “The introduction of these channels reinforces AzamTV’s commitment to delivering diverse, high-quality content tailored to the vibrant and evolving tastes of African audiences.”
