AccuWeather has launched its free, ad-supported streaming channel AccuWeather NOW on Samsung TV Plus in the United States, extending distribution to Samsung’s FAST platform, which has recently passed 100 million monthly active users globally.
AccuWeather NOW offers 24-hour weather programming, covering forecasts, warnings, severe weather events and longer-form weather and climate documentaries. The channel also includes weather explainers and stories focused on how conditions could impact areas such as sport, health and outdoor activities.
AccuWeather says the Samsung TV Plus deal is aimed at reaching audiences who are moving away from traditional pay TV, while broadening access to its forecasts and alerts on connected TVs. The company’s CEO Steven R. Smith said the partnership would extend AccuWeather’s “Superior Accuracy” forecasts and warnings to more households.
Samsung TV Plus becomes the latest distribution partner for AccuWeather NOW, alongside existing carriage on platforms including Roku, Xumo and LG channels.
