German Handball-Bundesliga has appointed Dyn Media to take over the technical development of its international streaming service HBL TV from summer 2026, expanding a long-standing technology partnership and strengthening the league’s global OTT distribution.
The platform, operated by the league, targets handball fans in more than 100 countries where the HBL has no dedicated media partner. The HBL is currently available in over 80 countries via its self-built media network. Under the new mandate, Dyn Media will assume exclusive responsibility for the technical evolution of HBL TV, marking a strategic milestone for the league’s international distribution and Dyn’s product portfolio.
Dyn already provides several core technology solutions to the HBL, including a fully digitised league archive covering matches since 1991. The archive is structured and searchable, supported by AI and cloud services, and designed for immediate content exploitation. In addition, Dyn supplies AI-based systems for automated and semi-automated content creation, enabling scalable editorial workflows, as well as its Content Desk platform for managing, distributing and monetising league content.
With HBL TV, an international OTT infrastructure is now being added to this integrated technology architecture. Through integration with the Dyn Content Desk, matches and highlights from the Handball-Bundesliga and the 2. HBL can be transferred automatically to HBL TV. Events can be created automatically on the platform, with live streams started and ended without manual intervention.
“Dyn Media has been an innovative partner for years. The collaboration ranges from the digital archive and AI applications to content distribution. By further developing our HBL TV platform, we are taking the next step together to expand the HBL’s international presence and future-proof it technologically,” said Frank Bohmann, Managing Director of the Handball-Bundesliga.
Andreas Heyden, CEO of Dyn Media, added: “International visibility today is not created by rights alone, but by powerful technological infrastructure. With HBL TV, we are further developing a scalable platform together with the HBL that combines reach, efficiency and innovative capacity. Our ambition is to equip sports organisations technologically so that they can manage their content globally in an independent and sustainable way.”
