Appear has secured official verification from YouTube for Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) live streaming, clearing the way for broadcasters and production teams to deliver YouTube Live feeds using the company’s X Platform hardware.
The verification covers Appear’s X5, X10 and X20 platforms, supporting hardware-based AVC/HEVC encoding with SRT contribution for low-latency, resilient live workflows across news, sports and events.
Appear CEO Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen said becoming a YouTube-verified encoder partner strengthens the vendor’s position in professional IP contribution and gives customers a new route to reach audiences on one of the industry’s largest digital video platforms.
According to Appear, the verification was driven by customer demand after a major European broadcast platform requested YouTube support for Appear encoders in its production pipeline, triggering collaboration between the companies and culminating in full approval for SRT delivery.
YouTube Live Solutions Consultant Callum Hewett said the platform works with technology partners to ensure products meet reliability and performance standards for YouTube Live, adding that verification of Appear’s X Platform for SRT is expected to streamline delivery for Appear partners.
Appear recently participated YouTube’s LiveCon 2025 event in London, where it presented on SRT-enabled workflows aimed at helping rights holders and sports federations take greater control of live distribution and reach underserved audiences.
