Med Media Services has secured distribution for its Mediterranean-themed FAST channel MED.TV on Rakuten TV, extending the service across 43 European territories.
Announcing the deal at MIP London, the Malta-based company said the Rakuten TV launch takes MED.TV to a potential audience of more than 150 million households. The agreement was confirmed by Med Media Services COO Manolo Mantovani.
Launched in 2025, MED.TV positions itself as a destination for Mediterranean-focused programming, combining original and curated content spanning documentaries, travel and food series, feature films, classical concerts and opera, as well as coverage and highlights from major business events and Mediterranean current affairs.
Programming includes travel series Into the Med, documentary titles Mediterraneo and Signorie, culinary strands Mediterranean Kitchen and Gold Cuisine, alongside classical music and opera performances. The schedule also features business and leadership formats including Med Leaders.
Mantovani said the Rakuten TV partnership supports the channel’s strategy to scale through linear and streaming distribution while continuing to invest in originals and localised content tailored to regional audiences.
Rakuten TV chief content officer Marcos Milanez said MED.TV’s focus on Mediterranean culture and lifestyle complements the platform’s growing FAST portfolio and aligns with demand for diverse, high-quality content.
MED.TV launched on Eutelsat Hotbird neighbourhood last year and is available to 160 million homes across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Med Media Services said it remains platform-agnostic, working across cable, satellite and OTT distribution.
