Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) said its full fibre footprint reached 8.3 million premises during 2025, while its total gigabit footprint expanded to 18.8 million premises, with upgrade activity continuing across the existing network.
The operator has now extended its serviceable base to 18,790,200 at year-end.
“Our core strategy of targeted investment, amounting to more than £2 billion across the year, and a focus on fixing fundamentals for customers has delivered real results,” said Lutz Schüler, CEO, Virgin Media O2. “Our customer service transformation saw a consistent reduction in complaints levels; we are well on our way to being the clear scaled fibre challenger to Openreach; we maintain a leading mobile wholesale market position; and we have the UK’s largest 5G Standalone network, with O2 recently named as the most improved network in Europe.”
The fibre push comes against continued fixed-line subscriber pressure. Q4 delivered a net reduction of 18,500 fixed-line customer relationships, with broadband connections down by 16,700 in the quarter. For the full year, broadband net losses totalled 138,400. Consumer fixed revenue fell 1.1% year-on-year to £3,361.6 million, which the company attributed mainly to a lower customer base amid intense competition.
