Amazon is rolling out a refreshed user interface for Fire TV devices, aiming to put more emphasis on content discovery and simplify navigation as streaming catalogues continue to expand.
The redesign, first previewed at CES in January, introduces a cleaner look with rounded tiles, refreshed gradients and typography, and more spacing between rows, alongside more room for pinned apps. Amazon has increased the number of apps that can be pinned on the home screen from 6 to 20 by using smaller icons.
A simplified navigation bar sits at the top of the screen, organised into icon-led destinations including Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports and News, with Search positioned to the left of Home. Less frequently used features are moved into a “hamburger” menu, including Games, Art & Photos, the Appstore, Music, a universal watchlist (“My Stuff”) and Settings.
Within each destination, Fire TV surfaces “continue watching” and recommendations from the services a user subscribes to, while the Live TV section is positioned as a single entry point for live streams across apps, alongside broadcast or cable channels where available.
The new interface also integrates Alexa+, Amazon’s updated AI assistant, enabling natural-language discovery and follow-up queries, including prompts tied to on-screen selections such as asking for more information about a title or requesting similar content “with the same look”.
The update is initially available to Fire TV owners in the United States, launching first on Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) and the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series, with wider device and international availability expected during the spring.
