French business media is reporting that Orange is exploring a potential sale of its video security and platform subsidiary Viaccess-Orca.
L’Informé reports that Orange has instructed investment bank Oddo BHF to sound out potential buyers for Viaccess, in what is described as a market test rather than a formally launched auction process. The move follows similar stories around Orange’s broadcast services arm Globecast.
The report suggests Orange is assessing investor appetite before deciding whether to proceed with a full disposal process.
Orange has not issued a formal statement confirming a sale process.
Viaccess-Orca provides conditional access, DRM and TV platform solutions to pay-TV operators and broadcasters, and has been undergoing restructuring as Orange refocuses on its core telecoms activities.
Any potential divestment would mark a further step in the operator’s streamlining of non-core media and broadcast assets.
