German sports broadcaster Sportdigital has acquired exclusive German-language rights to 15 matches from the Concacaf Champions Cup, including games featuring former FC Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller.
The agreement, which has been confirmed to Broadband TV News by Sportdigital, covers 15 of the tournament’s 51 matches, beginning with two first-round knockout ties involving Müller’s Vancouver Whitecaps against CS Cartaginés on 19 and 26 February.
The games will be broadcast live by pay-TV channel Sportdigital1+. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
The Concacaf Champions Cup has been the leading club competition for teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean since 1962. The winner qualifies automatically for the FIFA Club World Cup in 2029 and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2026.
With the acquisition, Sportdigital1+ further strengthens its international club football portfolio. The channel already broadcasts the AFC Champions League Elite and South America’s Copa Libertadores, positioning itself as a multi-regional “Champions League” outlet in the German-speaking market.
“By adding the Concacaf Champions Cup, we have expanded our extensive and high-quality international football portfolio with another premium property,” said Bendix Eisermann, Managing Director of Sportdigital. “Alongside the AFC Champions League Elite and the Conmebol Libertadores, this is now the third Champions League competition on Sportdigital1+, which is very good news for our viewers and platform partners.”
The competition features a number of high-profile players, including Lionel Messi of Inter Miami, Marco Reus of LA Galaxy, Son Heung-min of Los Angeles FC, Anthony Martial of Monterrey, Keylor Navas of UNAM Pumas and Luis Suárez, also at Inter Miami.
