German TV sales rise 3.2% in 2025 as larger screens and premium displays gain ground

February 11, 2026 11.09 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

TV set sales in Germany increased by 3.2% year on year to 4.8 million units in 2025, according to the latest CE-Branchenkompass report published by industry associations ZVEI and Deutsche TV-Plattform in cooperation with market research company NIQ.

Just under 4.7 million TV sets were sold in 2024. The report attributes the strong start to the year in part to the switch-off of SD distribution of ARD channels in January 2025, which continued to drive replacement purchases throughout the first quarter. Fourth-quarter sales were up 5% compared with the same period a year earlier. ZDF switched of SD distribution in November 2025.

OLED TV set sales grew by 9.4% to 821,000 units, but LCD remained the dominant display technology with more than four million sets sold. Within the LCD segment, the share of QLED technology increased markedly, accounting for around one third of units sold, up from 23% in 2024.

The trend towards larger screen sizes also continued. Sales of TVs with screen diagonals above 65 inches rose by 15% compared with the previous year.

Digital radio penetration advanced further in 2025. More than seven in ten radio receivers sold during the year supported digital reception standards, including internet radio, DAB+ and hybrid devices. Over the past five years, the share of digital radio receivers has increased by 13% to 71%.

DAB+ in particular continued to gain traction. More than half of tabletop radios sold in 2025 were equipped with the digital radio standard, representing a 55% share, up from 41% in 2020.

Despite the growth in TV and digital radio segments, the overall consumer electronics market covered by the CE-Branchenkompass, spanning video and audio products, declined by nearly 5% in 2025. Total revenues reached €6.1 billion.

The CE-Branchenkompass covers TV sets, TV accessories, radios, headphones, speakers and audio and sound systems. The radio segment includes standalone radios, radios integrated into home audio systems, tuners, receivers and aftermarket car radios, but excludes factory-installed in-car radio systems. Figures are based on NIQ total market data unless otherwise stated.
