Virgin Media O2 has launched 3 new FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channels from Rakuten TV on Virgin TV, available at no extra cost.
The additions – Rakuten TV Drama, Rakuten TV Comedy and Rakuten TV Sci-Fi – appear in the Virgin TV electronic programme guide and are available via voice search, with channels positioned at 462, 463 and 464.
The channels are being rolled out automatically to Virgin TV 360 and Virgin TV Flex customers, with no action required. Virgin Media O2 says Virgin TV customers now have access to 40 FAST channels in total.
David Bouchier, David Bouchier, said the new streaming channels would bring “unmissable entertainment… at no extra cost” and put more Rakuten TV content “all in one place”.
Rakuten TV’s Chief Product Officer Sidharth Jayant said the launch marks “the next phase” of the companies’ partnership, aimed at widening UK access to free-to-view streaming channels.
Virgin TV customers can also access on-demand films and TV episodes via the Rakuten TV app, which is available through the Virgin TV app store.
