Telefónica and Liberty Global are reportedly nearing a £2 billion (€2.3 billion) takeover of Netomnia, via their UK fibre venture nexfibre alongside InfraVia Capital Partners.
The talks were first reported by the Financial Times Tuesday.
Netomnia is the second largest of the alt-nets with 400,000 premises connected to its 10 Gbps (XGS-PON) capable service.
The deal would combine Netomnia’s fibre build with nexfibre’s footprint and parts of Virgin Media O2, creating a network said to cover 8 million homes, with access to around 20 million premises when including Virgin Media’s infrastructure.
Netomnia updated the market on its performance last week, reporting 2025 revenue of £104 million (€121 million) and take-up reaching 15%.
Virgin Media O2 and Netomnia declined to comment.
