Disney has pulled support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and selected 3D titles on Disney+ in Germany, leaving subscribers – including those on its Premium tier – limited to the static HDR10 format for HDR playback.
The change has been noticed by users in recent weeks and became particularly apparent around the Christmas period, after titles that previously streamed in Dolby Vision began defaulting to HDR10. Heise reports the move also affects 3D titles previously available via the Disney+ app on Apple Vision Pro, with Disney’s German help pages now stating that 3D content is currently not available in Germany.
According to Heise, the restrictions appear to be Germany-only, with the UK-facing Disney+ site continuing to list Dolby Vision and Vision Pro 3D as part of the Premium offering. Disney has not publicly explained the change and did not respond to Heise’s enquiry.
InterDigital has said it secured an injunction from the Munich Regional Court in late 2025 over an InterDigital patent related to streaming video using high dynamic range (HDR) technology, noting Disney can appeal. InterDigital also referenced an earlier Munich injunction in a separate case involving technology for dynamically overlaying one video stream with another.
