Whale TV has joined the DVB Project, adding the smart TV operating system provider to the industry consortium developing open standards for digital television.
The decision was approved by the DVB Steering Board and strengthens DVB’s global ecosystem of technology companies contributing to specifications used across broadcast, broadband and hybrid TV services.
Headquartered in Singapore, Whale TV develops and operates a smart TV operating system and provides software, services and user-interface technologies for connected television. The company has offices across Europe, Asia and the Americas and works with TV manufacturers and partners worldwide.
“Becoming a DVB Member is a natural extension of our goal to deliver a TV experience for consumers that is like no other,” said Raymond Chung, Chief Operating Officer of Whale TV. “By gaining an early view of specifications in development and providing our global team with access to DVB’s working groups and resources, we can innovate with greater precision and speed.”
As a DVB member, Whale TV will be able to contribute to the development of future specifications and collaborate with other members on standards shaping the next phase of connected and hybrid television.
