Sky News is revamping its 10pm output with The Wrap, a new nightly programme designed to put more emphasis on live discussion, analysis and video storytelling than a traditional end-of-day bulletin.
Launching on Monday 26 January, The Wrap will air from 10pm to midnight. The broadcaster says the shift reflects audiences increasingly getting breaking news via digital platforms, alongside a growing appetite for personality-led conversation formats.
Currently, the News at Ten brand is used by BBC, Sky, and ITV which originated the name for its flagship bulletin in 1967.
David Rhodes, Executive Chairman of Sky News, said: “The 10pm slot has been a cornerstone of Sky News for years. Anna and Gillian remain at the helm, now leading greater conversation, explanation and debate. More than the news at 10, The Wrap will have a new format that increasingly values context and live discussion alongside breaking news, ensuring audiences get “The Full Story, First”.
Anna Botting will present Monday to Thursday, with Gillian Joseph anchoring Friday to Sunday. Sky News said panellists including experts, journalists and special guests will join for the full programme each night, creating a live, fast-moving debate that can react to developing stories.
The show will retain its review of the next day’s newspapers, positioning the programme as a bridge between the day’s events and the agenda for the morning.
During the week, The Wrap will broadcast from a newly rebranded Sky News studio at Millbank, turning the 10pm slot into a late-night hub for live reporting and commentary. Sky News Executive Chairman David Rhodes said the new format will “increasingly value context and live discussion alongside breaking news.”
