Telenor has launched the T-We Boks III set-top box in Norway, built with Kaon hardware and an Android TV launcher from ADB, in what the partners describe as the foundation for a unified Nordic TV platform.
Rollouts are planned next for Telenor Sweden and DNA Finland.
The compact device runs Google Android TV 14 and is based on Amlogic chipsets with Dolby Vision support. Telenor says the specification includes 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, with access to “tens of thousands” of apps including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and YouTube.
Sustainability is a key part of the pitch, with recyclable materials and an eco-focused remote supplied by Tech4home featuring motion-activated backlighting and a rechargeable battery.
Jens Gabrielsson, Head of European Sales and VP Sales Nordics at KAON, said: “We are proud to provide the hardware and software platform that powers the T-We Boks III… enabling operators to deliver superior customer experiences while meeting growing expectations for sustainability and design.”
ADB said the launcher builds on its wider client footprint at Telenor across Linux set-top boxes, mobile, web, Apple TV and smart TVs, integrated with its Graphyne TV backend. Philippe Lambinet, Chief Marketing Officer at Advanced Digital Broadcast, said the deployment is “a key milestone” in ADB’s partnership with Telenor, adding it is “fully integrating it with our Graphyne End to End system, to deliver an unrivalled user experience”.
Emil Hansen, VP Head of Nordic TV at Telenor, said the platform will underpin cross-border feature rollouts, cloud-based recording services “launching during 2026”, and longer-term service consolidation across Norway, Sweden and Finland, adding: “Our collaboration with KAON and ADB enables us to offer our customers seamless streaming experiences while also addressing the needs of customers with more traditional TV habits.”
