Big Blue Marble launches TV-as-a-service platform in Germany

January 16, 2026 20.01 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Austrian broadcast and streaming service provider Big Blue Marble Group has launched its TV-as-a-service platform in Germany, rolling out a white-label, fully managed IPTV solution aimed at national and regional telecommunications providers and cable operators.

The scalable platform allows operators to launch and run a complete entertainment service without investing in their own infrastructure, offering predictable monthly service fees and branding tailored to each customer. The proposition combines live TV, on-demand, catch-up and major streaming apps within a single environment.

“Germany is a strategic core market for us. It combines a highly developed media sector with a strong affinity for streaming and on-demand services,” said Michael Wagenhofer, CEO of Big Blue Marble Group. “That is exactly the environment our platform was built for, as a future-proof foundation for the next generation of TV and video services.”

According to Wagenhofer, the service addresses changing viewer expectations. “Anyone watching television today expects an all-in-one TV experience: live TV, on-demand content, media libraries and the streaming apps of international players such as Netflix and Disney+, all in one place and in a single solution. That is precisely what we enable.”

Big Blue Marble’s TV-as-a-service offering covers the full value chain, including content rights management, signal provision, encoding, OTT distribution, analytics and billing, delivered as a fully managed service. The platform supports Android TV-based set-top boxes as well as apps for smart TVs and mobile devices, with a focus on simple and intuitive user experience.

While the TV-as-a-service product is new to the German market, Big Blue Marble already has an established footprint in the country. German football association DFB uses the company’s streaming technology for its international content platform DFB Play, which distributes live matches, highlights and archive content via web and app.

As part of its German market push, Big Blue Marble plans a series of activities in 2026, including targeted online campaigns, participation in industry events such as fiberdays and ANGA COM, as well as the development of local partnerships and a dedicated sales team.

To support the expansion, media executive Thomas Bichlmeir has joined Big Blue Marble in an advisory role, contributing his experience from previous positions for example at Discovery Deutschland and Kirch Group to the development of the TV-as-a-service business in Germany.

Wagenhofer acknowledged the competitive nature of the German streaming market, but said the company has set ambitious targets. “We want to establish ourselves in Germany, as we already have in Austria, as an indispensable player and the first address for TV-as-a-service,” he said. “I strongly believe in the potential of our platform and am convinced that we can make such an attractive offer to mid-sized IPTV providers that they cannot afford to ignore us.”

The TV-as-a-service platform was first launched in Austria in March 2025.
