BBC Studios has renewed its multi-year strategic partnership with Telekom Slovenije, extending carriage of BBC Earth and BBC First and adding the BBC Player VOD service to the operator’s NEO platform.
BBC Player launched in Slovenia on 15 January, offering a minimum 900 hours of BBC Studios programming spanning drama, natural history, documentaries, lifestyle and entertainment. Titles highlighted include Happy Valley, Sherlock, This Is Going to Hurt and Pride and Prejudice.
As part of a launch promotion, BBC Player will be available free of charge to all NEO subscribers until 30 April. After that, it will be included for NEO C subscribers. BBC Earth and BBC First remain available in subtitled versions across all NEO packages.
The renewed agreement also introduces advertising sales for BBC Studios channels in Slovenia, due to launch later this year. Under the arrangement, Telekom Slovenije becomes BBC Studios’ official advertising sales broker in the market, with the ad sales service to be delivered in cooperation with Telekom Slovenije subsidiary TSmedia.
Bartosz Witak, SVP and General Manager CEE, MENA and Turkey at BBC Studios, said the deal expands the reach of BBC Studios’ branded services in the market and creates new opportunities for advertisers across multiple platforms. Telekom Slovenije’s Luca Borzatta said the addition of BBC Player brings more BBC content to users in a “modern format” as part of the NEO offer.
