waipu.tv signs HBO Max as German launch partner

January 9, 2026 10.58 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German TV streaming service waipu.tv has agreed a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery to integrate HBO Max into its platform in Germany.

Customers will be able to subscribe to HBO Max directly via waipu.tv, including as part of a discounted bundle.

“Our aim is to make television and streaming as simple and attractive as possible,” said Markus Härtenstein, Co-CEO of Exaring, waipu.tv’s parent company. “By integrating HBO Max, we are bringing even more premium content together in one place for our customers.”

Matthias Heinze, SVP Commercial and Managing Director Warner Bros. Discovery Germany, Switzerland and Austria, added: “Our long-term goal is to make the incredibly diverse and high-quality content of HBO Max accessible to as many viewers as possible. The partnership with waipu.tv is an important part of that strategy.”

HBO Max brings together series and films from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures and Television, the DC Universe and Max Originals. The line-up includes series such as House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Euphoria, Industry and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which premieres on 19 January 2026, alongside films including Superman, The Batman, Dune, the Harry Potter franchise and upcoming New Line Cinema titles.

The HBO Max subscription can be combined with waipu.tv Perfect Plus at a lower price than subscribing to the services separately, with bundles starting at €17.99 per month. waipu.tv has previously integrated services including Netflix, Disney+, WOW and DAZN into its offers.

At launch, HBO Max will offer three subscription tiers. An ad-supported Basic plan allows streaming in Full HD on two devices. The Standard tier offers Full HD streaming on two devices with up to 30 downloads, subject to restrictions. The Premium tier supports 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos where available, streaming on up to four devices and up to 100 downloads, subject to restrictions. A sports add-on will be available across all plans.

waipu.tv offers more than 300 HD channels and around 40,000 on-demand titles alongside integrated streaming services, positioning itself as a central aggregation platform for linear TV and streaming in Germany.

Following the agreement announced with RTL Deutschland to bundle HBO Max with its streaming service RTL+, waipu.tv is the second distribution partner of the service, which launches in Germany on 13 January 2026.
