The 2026 Trophée des Champions will become the first European football match to carry live AI-translated commentary, with Italian-language output delivered in real time on Ligue 1+.
The match, staged in Kuwait on 8 January, will see Paris Saint-Germain face Olympique de Marseille at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City. Kick-off is set for 19:00 in Italy and 21:00 local time.
LFP Media says the Italian commentary will be translated from the French feed, assisted by AI translation specialist CAMB.AI, marking the first time a European fixture has been translated live in this way.
The move is positioned as part of LFP Media’s wider push to grow French football internationally. Ligue 1+ launched in Italy in September 2025 and is currently priced at €9.99 per month, with a Christmas promotion offering the remainder of the season for €39.99.
Viewers will be advised the commentary is automatically generated and that quality and consistency may vary as the technology remains a work in progress.
