Ampere: Tubi UK drives fastest catalogue growth for AVOD in 2025

December 19, 2025 10.19 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Free ad-supported streaming services recorded the fastest catalogue growth in 2025, outpacing subscription video-on-demand platforms worldwide, according to new research from Ampere Analysis.

Ampere said 6 of the 10 platforms with the fastest catalogue expansion this year were ad-supported, including Tubi UK (up 99% since January 2025), Rakuten TV Ireland (up 43%) and Pluto TV Canada (up 27%). Across the wider VoD market, average catalogue growth was 5% in 2025.

In the UK, Ampere said Tubi delivered the biggest increase, lifting its library to more than 20,000 movies and shows and making it the country’s second-largest catalogue behind Amazon Prime Video. Growth was described as more modest in other markets, with Tubi up 11% in the US and 7% in Canada.

Across ad-supported platforms, Documentary, Crime & Thriller, and Reality were the most-added genres in 2025, accounting for 36% of newly added titles, Ampere said.

Broadcaster VOD services also expanded in Europe’s big five markets, with Ampere highlighting growth at TF1+ in France (up 77%) and RTVE Play in Spain (up 37%). RTVE Play’s increase was driven mainly by local productions, while around half of TF1+’s new additions were international titles.

By contrast, Ampere said SVOD catalogue growth lagged in 2025, with Apple TV+ the fastest-growing major service (up 15%), driven primarily by originals, which accounted for more than 90% of new titles. Amazon and Paramount+ were both up 12%, Disney+ up 8% and Netflix up 4%.

Tingting Li, Research Manager at Ampere Analysis, said ad-supported services will keep expanding libraries in markets where AVoD and BVoD are widely used, while SVoD growth is increasingly being driven by local content and partnerships with broadcasters, a trend she expects to continue into 2026.
