BBC Studios is extending the reach of its digital and FAST portfolio across EMEA, adding new distribution for BBC Player and launching additional channels in Spain.

BBC Player, the multi-genre VOD service that debuted on Movistar Plus+ in Spain in October, is now available via Vodafone Spain and Go Plc in Malta, offering up to 700 hours of BBC Studios programming spanning drama, natural history, documentaries, lifestyle and entertainment.

BBC Studios says BBC Player is now carried in 7 EMEA markets: Spain, Malta, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany and Poland, alongside other branded digital services including BBC Nordic+ and BBC NL+.

On the FAST side, BBC Studios last week launched 4 channels on MasOrange in Spain: Top Gear, BBC Series, BBC Earth and BBC Lifestyle.

The BBC Earth FAST channel is also due to extend to 5 additional platforms with existing partners across EMEA before the end of the year, building on its launch on Samsung TV Plus in the region in 2024.

Arran Tindall, President EMEA, Global Channels & Streaming, said the strategy is focused on accessibility and discovery across FAST, OTT and pay TV, pairing “rediscovery” brands such as Top Gear with curated VOD through BBC Player.
