German broadcaster Spirit TV has launched on DTT platform Freenet TV as a free-to-air, unencrypted service.
The addition was confirmed by DTT network operator Media Broadcast, when approached by Broadband TV News. Spirit TV is being transmitted on previously unused capacity, according to the company. No existing channel has been removed or replaced to make room for the newcomer.
Spirit TV, which went on air on 1 January 2025, focuses on astrology, card reading and other esoteric themes. Its schedule includes live call-in shows in which viewers can speak to on-air advisers via premium-rate telephone numbers. The format continues the tradition of Astro TV, which ceased broadcasting at the end of 2024.
In addition to its new terrestrial presence, Spirit TV is already widely available via satellite on Astra 19.2° East, on Vodafone Deutschland’s cable network, as well as via livestream on the channel’s website.
