January launch for HBO Max in Italy and the DACH

December 3, 2025 11.54 Europe/London By Julian Clover

HBO Max will launch in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein on 13 January 2026, in what Warner Bros. Discovery says will take the service close to full availability across Europe, with only the UK and Ireland still to come early next year.

“We are thrilled to bring HBO Max and the stories that stick with you to new countries across Europe this January,” said JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery. “With our strongest line-up of US and local HBO series yet, blockbuster local and international movies, and the Olympic Winter Games, it is the perfect time to make HBO Max available directly to subscribers.”

Viewers in the six territories will for the first time be able to access the full HBO Max offering – combining HBO, Warner Bros Pictures, Warner Bros Television, the DC Universe and Max Originals – in a single service. Flagship series highlighted for the rollout include The Pitt, It: Welcome to Derry, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The White Lotus and Euphoria, alongside studio features such as Superman, The Batman, Dune and the Harry Potter franchise. HBO Max will also be the streaming home of live coverage from the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 from 6–22 February.

Warner Bros. Discovery is backing the launch with a fresh slate of European originals. In Germany, HBO Max has greenlit 4 Blocks prequel 4 Blocks Zero and heist drama Banksters, plus projects including a Beetz Brothers documentary on the “Big Maple Leaf” gold coin theft and a Struwwelpeter-inspired thriller from Dark creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. Italian commissions include Melania, Portobello – The Fall of Enzo Tortora, Gina Lollobrigida: Diva Contesa and Saman, together with local film premieres such as Valerio Mastandrea’s Feeling Better and Daniele Barbiero’s Squali.
