LaLiga has locked in its core domestic broadcast model for another five years, renewing its partnership with Telefónica’s Movistar Plus+ and DAZN for the 2027/28 to 2031/32 seasons in a deal worth €5.25 billion for residential top-tier rights and €6.135 billion overall.
From 2027/28, Movistar and DAZN will continue to share all LaLiga EA Sports fixtures on an equal basis, with each platform carrying five matches per matchday – around 190 games per season apiece. As in the current cycle, DAZN will show one Clásico while Movistar takes the other, under a structure designed to preserve premium match value on both platforms.
The new residential package represents an uplift on the current 2022/23–2026/27 agreement, which is valued at €4.95 billion. LaLiga says the overall domestic rights pot – including hospitality (HORECA), second-tier LaLiga Hypermotion and free-to-air and highlights packages – will rise by around 9% versus the present cycle, with the residential top-flight rights themselves up roughly 6% to €1.05 billion per season.
Movistar will remain the primary aggregator in Spain, continuing to offer subscribers an “all matches” proposition by wholesaling DAZN’s package under a resale agreement that has been in place since 2022. DAZN, for its part, retains a strong direct-to-consumer presence via its own app and the DAZN LaLiga channel, which is carried on Movistar Plus+ and other pay TV platforms.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has described the renewal as a strategic win in a difficult international media-rights environment, citing improvements in the league’s audiovisual product and anti-piracy efforts, as well as stronger income from HORECA and second-tier rights. For DAZN, the agreement cements Spain as one of its flagship football markets alongside properties such as the NBA, NFL and Formula 1 on the platform, while Telefónica reinforces Movistar Plus+ as the default home of premium football for Spanish households through to 2032.
