AMC Networks is to launch AMC Western, billed as the only premium channel devoted entirely to Westerns, in February, while also lining up a fresh slate of originals for the 2026 launch of AMC+ in the Spanish market.
AMC Western will draw on film output from the dawn of cinema to the present day, with a strong emphasis on Hollywood’s Golden Age and classic directors such as John Ford, Henry Hathaway, John Sturges and Howard Hawks. Euro-westerns – from spaghetti westerns to productions shot in Spain – will also feature prominently, alongside more recent titles intended to show the genre’s continuing ability to reinvent itself.
At launch, the channel will be carried by a wide range of Spanish operators, including Vodafone, Orange, Jazztel, Yoigo, Euskaltel, MásMóvil, DIGI, Avatel, R, Telecable, Pepephone, Lowi, PTV Telecom, Cable Local and Tivify. AMC Western will also be available via Amazon Prime Video as part of AMC Channels.
The film line-up includes Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Once Upon a Time in the West, Cimarron, My Darling Clementine, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, The Left Handed Gun and Westward the Women, the latter highlighted for its female perspective on the genre.
Looking ahead to 2026, AMC Networks is using the announcement to underline its commitment to original series on AMC+. The streamer’s upcoming slate is headed by The Audacity, a Silicon Valley-set dramatic thriller created by Jonathan Glatzer, whose credits include Succession and Better Call Saul. The series stars Billy Magnussen, Zach Galifianakis, Simon Helberg and Sarah Goldberg and centres on the tech bubble and its excesses.
Also on the AMC+ roster is The Vampire Lestat, starring Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson, which continues to build out Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe and recasts the iconic vampire as a rock star. A fourth season of Dark Winds, produced by the late Robert Redford, will return as one of the platform’s most critically acclaimed dramas.
Rounding out the line-up is the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, filmed and set entirely in Spain, further tying AMC’s global franchises to the local production landscape.
