Sky Deutschland seals major content deal with Sony Pictures Television

November 12, 2025 10.58 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has signed a wide-ranging content licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The new deal will strengthen the offering on both Sky and its streaming service WOW with a broad portfolio of exclusive series, premium films and special TV events over the coming years.

Under the agreement, Sky secures a volume deal for selected SPT series with exclusive first-run rights on Sky and WOW. Highlights include the highly anticipated series adaptation of William Golding’s classic Lord of the Flies and the thriller Red Eye, starring Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage.

Another exclusive highlight will be 50 Jahre Roland Kaiser – Ein Leben für die Musik, a feature-length tribute to the famous German singer, which will premiere on Sky and WOW shortly after its theatrical release in early 2026.

Subscribers will also gain continued access to a range of popular films from the extensive SPT catalogue, including audience favourites such as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Uncharted.

“The new partnership with Sony Pictures Television complements our strong line-up from NBCU, Sky Studios and other partners, ensuring a diverse premium offer for the coming years,” said Elke Walthelm, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Sky Deutschland. “SPT stands for world-class storytelling and iconic entertainment – exactly what we want to deliver to our customers. With this renewal, we’re expanding our portfolio with exclusive series highlights and much-loved Sony classics – a powerful package for everyone who loves great entertainment.”

Holly Comiskey, SVP, Distribution & Networks and Country Manager, UK & GSA at Sony Pictures Television, added: “We are delighted to deepen our long-standing partnership with Sky. This new agreement brings a rich and high-quality selection of Sony Pictures series and films to audiences across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sky has long been a valued partner for premium entertainment, and together we’ll continue to deliver first-class storytelling that excites and connects.”

All licensed titles will be available both linearly and on demand via Sky Stream, Sky Q, WOW, Sky X and Sky Show.
