CNN is expanding its digital video push with the launch of an immersive vertical feed inside its flagship mobile app, offering a TikTok-style stream of short-form news clips from its on-air talent and correspondents.
The 10 November update introduces two primary tabs at the top of the home screen. “Top Stories” continues to deliver headline news in a mix of text and video, while the new “Shorts” tab serves a fast, swipeable feed designed for deeper, lean-in viewing.
Positioned as a companion to CNN’s recently launched streaming subscription service, the feature is pitched as a way to bring users “beyond the headlines”, surfacing breaking news, explainers and personality-led segments in a format optimised for vertical viewing and habitual use.
CNN says the move underlines its commitment to a “best-in-class” digital experience, with more to come as the news source looks to build engagement around its video content.
