Canal+ has confirmed that its MultiChoice subsidiary SuperSport will broadcast the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 in English and Portuguese-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, creating a unified rights footprint for the merged group across the continent.
When the tournament kicks off on 21 December, Canal+ will, for the first time, deliver AFCON coverage in French, English, Portuguese and selected local languages, positioning the group as the primary pay-TV home of the competition in Africa and Francophone markets.
The SuperSport deal with CAF secures all matches live for Anglophone and Lusophone territories, complementing CANAL+’s long-standing French-language rights. CAF president Patrice Motsepe said the 2023 edition in Côte d’Ivoire drew around 1.5 billion viewers worldwide and expects Morocco 2025 to reach even wider audiences, with more than 180 territories expressing interest in coverage.
Canal+ Africa CEO David Mignot said AFCON Morocco 25 is an early showcase of the newly combined Canal+/MultiChoice platform, promising extensive localisation and coverage fronted by a joint talent roster of African legends and presenters across both networks. The move reinforces the post-merger strategy to use aggregated sports rights, multi-language feeds and dedicated AFCON channels to defend against OTT rivals and cement the Group’s position as the default destination for premium African football.
