JOJ Group to end free-to-air distribution from 1 January 2026

October 24, 2025 09.53 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Slovakia’s JOJ Group will cease distributing TV JOJ, JOJ Plus, WAU (SD feeds) and JOJ 24 (HD) as free-to-air channels from 1 January 2026, redirecting viewers to its streaming service JOJ Play, the Plustelka terrestrial platform, and satellite, cable and IPTV/OTT partners.

The broadcaster says its priority is to make content available “simply, reliably and in the highest quality” across common platforms, with continued investment in JOJ Play for audiences preferring online viewing. The change affects only households currently receiving the listed JOJ channels via free distribution, so the channels will be available, for those willing to pay in some form.

Viewing options after switch-off include:
• JOJ Play – a free tier with live streams and archive plus a premium tier offering exclusive sports, early premieres and originals, on smart TV, mobile and web.
• Plustelka – pay DTT on DVB-T/T2 operated by Towercom
• Satellite, cable and IPTV/OTT – via JOJ’s partner operators across Slovakia.

JOJ Group remains one of the country’s leading private media groups, operating channels including TV JOJ, JOJ Plus, WAU, JOJko, JOJ Šport, JOJ Šport 2, JOJ 24 and JOJ Svet, alongside Czech services JOJ Cinema and JOJ Family. Its JOJ Play streaming service launched in 2022.

Towercom’s terrestrial network (Plustelka) covers the vast majority of Slovak households, providing an established route for viewers who wish to remain on antenna reception with additional pay-TV options.

JOJ says it will provide support through the transition to ensure uninterrupted access.
