SES and Arqiva signed a multi-year, multi-million pound contract renewal for satellite capacity on SES’s prime video neighbourhood of 28.2 degrees East.
The orbital slot is home to transmissions from Sky and other broadcasters targeting the UK and Ireland, reaching an estimated 10 million households.
Terms of the deal have not been released, which is significant, given Sky’s gradual move to IP delivery.
Arqiva, which also runs terrestrial transmission services, is backing a campaign to maintain Freeview to at least 2040.
