Ziggo says almost 7 million households in the Netherlands will be able to take 2 Gbit/s broadband by the end of 2025, positioning the operator as the country’s largest 2 Gbit/s provider and the first to launch at this scale in one step.
Nationwide coverage is slated for 2026, extending 2 Gbit/s into many regional areas for the first time. VodafoneZiggo also plans 4 Gbit/s and 8 Gbit/s tiers in 2026.
The new speed launches initially for existing customers and will roll into retail, customer care and online channels in the coming weeks. Residential access is offered via the ‘Wifi Extra Large’ package (2 Gbit/s), while business users can take ‘Business Internet Xtra XL’ at 2.2 Gbit/s down.
The operator says its hybrid fibre-coax network enables rapid upgrades without extensive civil works; a DOCSIS 4.0 upgrade will follow to lift capacity towards 10 Gbit/s. A partnership with DELTA Fiber extends Ziggo’s internet and TV services into areas beyond VodafoneZiggo’s own footprint.
The launch forms part of VodafoneZiggo’s updated strategy, which also simplified its broadband line-up and adjusted pricing earlier this year.
VodafoneZiggo has been facing renewed competition from KPN. VodafoneZiggo, which overtook VodafoneZiggo group on Dutch fixed broadband at the end of 2023. KPN and VodafoneZiggo between them hold roughly 35–40% of the market.
