Big Blue Marble selects 3SS and SEI Robotics for TV-as-a-Service platform

October 20, 2025 09.57 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Media technology provider Big Blue Marble has selected 3 Screen Solutions (3SS) and SEI Robotics as the technology partners for its managed TV-as-a-Service (TVaaS) platform for cable and OTT operators.

Formed by Austrian broadcasting services company ORS Group and video streaming solutions provider Insys Video Technologies, Big Blue Marble operates an end-to-end TV platform that enables tier 2 and tier 3 service providers to launch and manage their own branded TV services. The partnership with 3SS and SEI Robotics introduces user experience and hardware components that strengthen the platform’s performance and scalability.

3SS has developed the platform’s Android TV Custom Launcher and smart TV applications for Android TV, Samsung and LG devices using its 3Ready framework, while SEI Robotics provides the Android TV-based set-top boxes that form the hardware foundation of the managed service.

“We are so excited to further develop our TV-as-a-Service platform and empower more and more service providers to take their TV service businesses to the next level,” said Thomas Langsenlehner, Chief Customer Officer at Big Blue Marble Group.

The enhanced solution features a co-designed user interface by Big Blue Marble and 3SS, offering broad configuration capabilities for operators. SEI Robotics’ Android TV device is equipped with an Amlogic 5th generation SoC, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage, optimised for reliability and cost efficiency.

3SS has also delivered companion apps enabling Big Blue Marble’s TVaaS platform to run on Android TV as well as LG and Samsung smart TVs, ensuring consistent user experiences across connected devices.

According to Big Blue Marble, the expanded technical foundation allows regional and local service providers to scale their TV operations more efficiently, lower deployment costs, and offer subscribers a feature-rich and intuitive viewing experience.

The cooperation builds on a five-year partnership between ORS/Insys and 3SS, now extended under the Big Blue Marble brand to address international B2B markets. By combining broadcast infrastructure expertise, cloud-native OTT technology, and advanced user experience design, the three partners aim to deliver a scalable and future-proof platform for the next generation of TV service providers.
