Virgin Media O2 has begun offering free upgrades to its WiFi Hub 5 for select customers currently using Hub 3 and Hub 4 routers, with “thousands” to be switched before year-end and wider rollout planned for 2026.
The operator says the move will improve in-home performance and coverage, with the Hub 5 supporting WiFi 6 and featuring seven antennas aimed at smoother streaming, gaming and browsing.
“Providing our customers with the very best broadband experience sits at the heart of Virgin Media O2,” said Gareth Lister, Director of Connectivity at Virgin Media O2. “Not only will this upgrade benefit thousands of customers’ connectivity by enhancing their coverage, it will also future-proof their broadband services for new innovations to come.”
Hub 5 was first introduced in October 2021 and is Virgin Media’s first WiFi 6 router. It supports speeds in excess of 1 Gbps.
