Apple secures exclusive US Formula 1 rights on Apple TV from 2026

October 17, 2025 14.12 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Apple has struck a five-year deal with Formula 1 to carry every race exclusively on Apple TV in the United States from next year (2026), covering practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions and Grand Prix races.

The deal is said to be worth £558 million.

Select races and all practice sessions will be made available free in the Apple TV app over the season. Coverage will be amplified across Apple News, Maps, Music and Fitness+, while the Apple Sports app will offer live updates, leaderboards, standings, Live Activities and a homescreen widget.

F1 TV Premium will continue in the US “via an Apple TV subscription only” and will be free for those who subscribe, according to Apple and F1.

Apple says the partnership builds on the success of Apple Original Films’ F1 The Movie, which streams globally on Apple TV from 12 December 2025 after passing $629 million at the worldwide box office. Apple’s Eddy Cue called 2026 “a transformative new era for Formula 1”, promising “premium and innovative fan-first coverage”, while F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said the tie-up would maximise US growth through live broadcasts and year-round content.

Apple TV launched in 2019 and now carries a growing slate of originals alongside live sport. F1 cites rapid US audience growth, with 52 million fans in 2024 and a high share of newer fans aged 18–24. Further production details and product enhancements will follow in the coming months.
