Plume has joined the prpl Foundation at Gold level, saying it will work with industry peers to speed development of open-source, open-standard software for next-gen connected devices.
Announced on 13 October during the Global prpl Summit in Paris, Plume said it has its cloud technology running on the prpl platform as an early step toward delivering its consumer-experience features through open standards.
The company framed the move as a more open, collaborative approach with ISPs and tech partners that are deploying prpl-based hardware and services. Plume’s cloud platform – covering Wi-Fi management, customer care, network intelligence and security, exposed via APIs – is positioned to add “intelligence and value” to prpl deployments.
CTO Chris Griffiths said integrating with prpl will help deliver new levels of intelligence across the connected home, while prpl Foundation president Dr Leonard Dauphinee welcomed the membership as further support for openness and interoperability.
Two weeks ago, it was announced Plume had joined the RDK community.
Plume is also meeting customers at NetworkX this week in Paris, with discussions focused on responsible AI adoption, self-healing home networks and a network-intelligence operating system for the next phase of broadband and IoT.
