Disney+ is retire the Star hub across many international markets – including the UK – and replace it with Hulu.
While the move is primarily cosmetic it also signals a shift in Disney’s larger strategy as it looks to unify its steaming platforms globally.
The new tile will sit alongside Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and National Geographic.
When Disney acquired the Star brand through the 2019 purchase of assets from News Corp it adopted Star as its international entertainment brand. Hulu Originals were labelled Star Originals in international markets.
As of October 8 it will instead use the Hulu brand that is already familiar to viewers in the United States and Canada.
All current content housed under Star (drama series, adult dramas, general entertainment titles) will be rebranded into the Hulu tile. There will also be an updated navigation and user experience to support the change.
Viewers in the United States can expect Hulu to be fully integrated into the Disney+ app during 2026.
However, the move is not expected to result in any significant changes to content.
