Ad-supported streaming network wedotv has broadened its Italian presence with the launch of two of its FAST channels – wedotv movies Italia and wedotv BIG Stories – on the Sky Italia satellite platform.
The channels are being distributed via the Eutelsat Hotbird neighbourhood (13° East) and make use of wedotv’s HbbTV addressable TV technology to enable dynamic ad insertion for the local market.
Italy was the first European market outside the DACH region and the UK where wedotv rolled out its AVOD and FAST services. Founder and CEO Philipp Rotermund said the Sky carriage meant the channels were now available to more than a third of Italian households.
Alongside Sky Italia, wedotv movies and wedotv BIG Stories are already present on tivùsat, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Vidaa (Hisense) and Tiscali, as well as through the direct-to-consumer service wedotv.com and its Italian-language apps.
