Sky News has announced the relaunch of its morning schedule with a new three-hour programme fronted by Sophy Ridge and Wilfred Frost.
Mornings with Ridge and Frost will debut on Monday 3 November, broadcasting live from 07:00 to 10:00 from a redesigned London studio. The show promises agenda-setting interviews and reporting from Sky’s team of correspondents and editors across the UK and abroad.
The breakfast slot has been largely presented by Frost since the departure of long-standing Sky News presenter Kay Burley in February this year. Ridge has been fronting the nightly Politics Hub.
The new launch extends Sky News’ multiplatform offering. A companion daily podcast, Cheat Sheet with Ridge and Frost, will publish each weekday at 06:00, delivering a ten-minute news briefing. A new morning newsletter is also in development, following the earlier launch of the Sky News Money newsletter.
With around one in five Britons citing social media as their main source of news, Sky News will also distribute bespoke video-first content across digital platforms, with Ridge and Frost providing their own take on the day’s events. Audiences will be able to interact in real time via WhatsApp, social and email.
Wilfred Frost said: “It’s a privilege to launch a brand-new morning show on Sky News – especially to be partnering with Sophy. We’ve had such fun shaping the show with our brilliant team, and I can’t wait for viewers to be part of the ride.”
Sophy Ridge added: “Presenting our morning programme is a real pinch yourself moment … for me, it’s about news-making interviews and making sense of the big stories.”
Sky News executive chairman David Rhodes described the new show as “a premium product built for the digital future” that will bring audiences the sharpest morning take on politics, business and global affairs.
Weekend editions of Mornings with Ridge and Frost will be hosted by Kamali Melbourne and Anna Jones, while Gareth Barlow will anchor early and late morning strands.
