ITV has renewed its deal to show exclusive, free-to-air coverage of UK horse racing, extending its rights through to the end of 2030.
The new four-year agreement, starting in 2027, guarantees 117 days of live coverage annually across ITV1, ITV4, STV and STV Player, all simulcast on streaming service ITVX. The package includes flagship events such as the Grand National, Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival and the Derby, alongside morning magazine show The Opening Show. A minimum of five races will be shown from the main course at each ITV4 fixture.
ITV Racing has been a ratings success, with 2025 marking its best-ever year on ITVX, generating more than 15 million streams. Highlights included a 5.2 million peak audience for the Grand National, five million watching Royal Ascot across its five days, and Cheltenham recording its highest final-day peak for four years at 1.8 million.
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, described the deal as “vital” for both ITV Sport and British racing. “We are proud to deliver so much live coverage of this incredible sport and would like to thank our partners. We look forward to continuing our relationship for years to come.”
Racecourse Media Group, The Jockey Club, Arena Racing Company, Ascot Racecourse and the British Horseracing Authority all welcomed the extension, highlighting ITV’s award-winning production and the value of mainstream terrestrial exposure.
