Sky Sports has reported the most-watched weekend in its history, with 8.8 million viewers tuning in across a packed schedule that included the Ryder Cup, Premier League, WSL, EFL, SPFL, Bundesliga, rugby league, tennis and NFL.
The 2025 Ryder Cup proved the biggest draw, attracting a record 5 million viewers across the three days as Team Europe edged out the United States. Average viewing across Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event was up 45% on the 2023 edition.
Sunday’s singles climax drew one in four UK TV viewers, including over 40% of under-35s. A peak audience just after 22.00 delivered Sky Sports’ highest ever golf audience, surpassing the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah and Rory McIlroy’s Masters win earlier this year.
Digital engagement also hit new highs, with Sky Sports’ social platforms generating 55 million views during Ryder Cup week, up 66% on 2023. The Sky Sports app and website logged 12.4 million page views, while the Sky Sports Golf podcast topped Apple’s trending chart.
Sky Sports Chief Sports Officer Jonathan Licht said the results underscored the Ryder Cup’s enduring appeal: “Record audiences tuned in to watch the thrilling action from Bethpage Black, alongside huge engagement across our social and digital platforms. The results show how the biggest sporting events really are the best of entertainment, and the exceptional teams at Sky Sports help make them truly unmissable for fans.”
