Pluto TV launches dedicated snooker channel backed by Ronnie O’Sullivan

September 30, 2025 12.43 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Pluto TV has announced the launch of Pluto Snooker 900, a first-of-its-kind dedicated snooker channel, fronted by snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Debuting on October 6, the free, ad-supported streaming channel will be available in nine territories: the UK, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. It will feature 18 hours of live snooker each week, together with classic archive matches and episodes of O’Sullivan’s coaching series The Rocket Method.

At its heart is Snooker 900, a rapid-fire 15-minute format created in 2022 by Jason Francis. Designed to appeal to streaming audiences, the format features a 20-second shot clock, ball-in-hand penalties and sudden-death shootouts for ties.

The launch begins with Legends Week, featuring Jimmy White, Ken Doherty and referee Michaela Tabb. Alongside star names, the channel will showcase women’s, juniors’ and disabled players, with a focus on broadening the game’s appeal.

Olivier Jollet, EVP and GM International, Pluto TV, said: “We’re excited to launch Pluto TV’s first-ever dedicated snooker channel with the support of the legend Ronnie O’Sullivan – an exclusive destination for fans of this iconic sport. As pioneers in the FAST space, we’re proud to lead the way in redefining how niche sports are distributed and experienced.”

Jason Francis, creator of Snooker 900, added: “The dream was to create a format that could bring snooker to a new generation while still thrilling the purists. To see it now become the focus of the first dedicated snooker channel on Pluto TV – and to have Ronnie O’Sullivan backing it – is beyond anything I imagined.”

O’Sullivan himself said: “Young players don’t always get the chance to play under the lights or in front of the cameras, and that’s why Snooker 900 is so important. This channel gives them a proper stage, whether it’s women, juniors or disabled players, and puts real money back into the amateur game.”

Pluto Snooker 900 will air live snooker Monday to Wednesday, 14.00-17.00 and 19.00-22.00 UK time.
