At IBC 2025, Pixop unveiled its new Pixop Live solution, capable of converting HD-SDR signals into 4K HDR in real time.
Speaking at the show, Pixop’s Jon Frydensbjerg explained that the system is built on Nvidia hardware and uses a pipeline combining deep restoration, super-resolution and inverse tone mapping. The result is sharper images, restored detail, and enhanced vibrancy, all with a latency of around 600 milliseconds.
Broadcasters can choose between restoration, upscaling, or both, depending on their needs. “If you have a channel producing only in HD, you can just use the model that restores details without performing the upscaling to 4K,” Frydensbjerg said.
Pixop is already deploying the technology with a major US network, converting linear HD channels to 4K HDR. The company is also targeting applications in sports production, where archived clips can be enhanced for modern workflows, and in upgrading classic library content for today’s high-quality screens.
Founded seven years ago, Pixop originally focused on consumer-facing applications but has shifted its attention to the professional market in recent years. Pixop Live is the company’s first real-time product designed for broadcast and production clients.
