HKT/PCCW’s Now has officially announced a partnership with Disney+, making the streaming service directly available to its pay-TV and broadband customers in Hong Kong.
Under the agreement, Disney+ content will be integrated into the Now TV app and web menu across mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs and set-top boxes. The Disney+ app is expected to be pre-installed on Now TV’s H1 set-top boxes by the end of 2025 (subject to storage availability).
Now TV’s existing Junior Signature Pack (focused on children’s programming) and Asia Signature Pack+ (general entertainment and regional content) will be upgraded to include Disney+ as part of their bundled offers. HKT mobile and broadband customers are promised exclusive subscription privileges under the tie-up.
Derek Choi, Managing Director of Consumer Marketing & Pay TV at HKT, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with Disney+ to bring the beloved slates from Disney’s brands and franchises that our audiences enjoy. This partnering reinforces our commitment to curating a rich and diverse content portfolio that appeals to viewers of various ages.”
Disney+ in Hong Kong attracted attention over the absence of certain episodes of The Simpsons. Viewers noticed that politically sensitive episodes, including one referencing Tiananmen Square, were unavailable on the service when it launched locally in 2021.
